Easter Cotswolds & Maritime Bristol - 29.3.24

Just to say thank you for a brilliant short break. Bristol Blue Badge guide was ace and showed us some marvellous sights. The SS Great Britain visit was definitely a ‘wow’ factor, and the GWE railway was another spectacle and the guide there was really good. What was also nice was that we had an extra visit on the way home, i.e. STEAM in Swindon. We’d never heard of that but, again, brilliant.

Christmas in Lake Garda - 21.12.23

Just back from our first holiday with Woods, Turkey & Tinsel at Warner’s, Bembridge IOW. My daughter and I have had a wonderful break and could not fault anything with the wonderful service we received. From home pick up, to outings, entertainment and drop off to our own front doors it has been a perfect break.

Sidmouth & South Devon - 31.8.23

One of the joys of retirement is that we can go on holiday whenever we want to (or can afford to) and we have availed the services of your company on at least six occasions. The last being earlier this year to Sidmouth. The food and service at the hotel was excellent and the itinerary was all very good. I think that P is the best driver/courier we have known and his management of a very large coach is excellent.

After returning from our break in Eastbourne, I just wanted to let you know how pleased I was with all the efficient organisation (which I have come to expect). Everything was so good especially the way our driver dealt with some unexpected driving situations, and being confined to our hotel because of Storm Ciaran so organised a quiz for us.

Just returned from above holiday. The guide made the trip around the Weald extremely interesting on our second day, and the hotel staff at York House were very attentive.

Liverpool Discovery - 21.9.23

Although it some weeks since I returned from the above tour, I did want to thank everyone at Woods who made it such an enjoyable tour. After trying two other trips that were booked out, I was lucky to get on this one. The lady in the office was as pleased as I was!

It was a lovely surprise that J as our driver, he is such a kind gentleman. The Park Royal Hotel was excellent; it was well run and quiet at night. Visiting Liverpool the next day we were virtually almost blown across the Mersey on the ferry. But it did not matter as it was so interesting. The bus tour with an enthusiastic guide was excellent. Ellesmere Port and the National Waterways Museum was excellent and we were lucky to journey on the Anderton boat lift and then on the canal.

Thank you for such an excellent tour and whoever put it together. My only regret is that my late husband would have loved it, and all that was covered by it. WL of Petersfield, Hants

I wanted to let you know how much my friends and I enjoyed the Four River Cruise from 13th-20th August. From the moment we got picked up by taxi until the moment we arrived back home it was just perfect. The overnight hotel in France was beautiful and the MS Leonard Da Vinci was just superb. The crew were fantastic from the Purser to the bar staff and waiters/waitresses. I can't get over the value for money - the food was beautifully prepared and served.

We thoroughly enjoyed the excursions and on-board entertainment, and our courier is a real asset to Woods. Our driver was also excellent having to face some challenging driving around France. Red Rose Country & The Ribble Valley – 12.9.22

Our latest holiday with Woods was Lancashire & The Ribble Valley, which was lovely and very varied. We especially enjoyed the day in Rendle Witch Country with an official guide, who was very informative and interesting.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, and I enjoyed every meal. Our driver/courier, C, was superb, driving the long coach with skill and patience down narrow lanes and in unfamiliar towns.

Warner's Isle of Wight - 26.09.22

Last week at Bembridge was wonderful. I have been to Bembridge many, many times and this visit was great. I’ve not been there since before Covid and I think they’ve made several and very good hotel changes. Accommodation was first class and the food was even better than I remember and that’s saying something.

The Woods programme of visits was just right, a mixture of time at Bembridge but also the opportunity to see areas of the island etc. One particular visit I think most of the coach enjoyed was an impromptu visit to St. Mildred’s at Whippingham on the way to Osborne House. Only a small church – Queen Victoria’s church – but well worth seeing.

I’m off to Bembridge again in early December for Turkey and Tinsel!! and I’m looking forward to it. MR of Bognor Regis, W Sussex

Cruising the Seine - 14.7.22

My wife and I recently returned from our holiday with Woods to the River Seine Cruise. Firstly, I have to say this was one of the best coach holidays we have had since I can no longer drive. Despite the problems with the ferries, the incredible patience of P, our driver, was brilliant throughout the holiday and nothing was too much trouble.

M, or courier, helped us with anything that needed sorting out on the ship and the whole trip was perfect. Lovely crew, lovely food and really nice visits ashore.

Cruising the Seine - 14.7.22

Having just come back from our holiday in Paris, I can say with heartfelt thanks for the care and organisation that was in place to give us all a really good time. This was the first time on my own and I was apprehensive but needn't have worried.

P, our driver, was magnificent taking on Paris and getting the gendarmes to let us through as it shut down for Bastille Day. Well done him and all done calmly. M, our courier, looked after all our needs and helped us relax.

Cruising the Seine - 14.7.22

We have just returned from Cruising the Seine, having booked it 3 years ago and it was certainly worth waiting for. The people on the coach were excellent company, and we haven't done a Croisi Cruise for some years but the standard is still high. Arriving in Paris on Bastille Day was a bonus as the fireworks from the Eiffel Tower were amazing!

Whilst booking my next holiday in September this year, I wanted to say how much we enjoyed our holiday in Suffolk - Autumn Gold in October 2021. Our local guide who took us out to Constable Country was superb - very knowledgeable, informative and interesting.

This was our first coach holiday with Woods Travel and I'm writing to confirm how much we enjoyed the whole holiday and experience. We were very impressed with the door to door service, it clearly takes the stress and worry out of meeting the coach at the start of the holiday and getting home at the end.

We must mention the driver, J, an excellent representative of Woods Travel in this instance. The Moorlands Hotel was a very good choice with overall very good service. Our room was excellent and the catering, dinner and breakfasts were of high quality with plenty of choice.

Dartmoor Delights - 9.5.22

Just to say the Dartmoor Delights tour was amazing. To be able to walk miles on the moors was wonderful although walking to Widecombe was maybe a little ambitious especially walking back up the hill but well worth it. Lovely hotel and pleasant staff.

J was a good driver and tackled the narrow lanes very well. Overall it was a lovely nostalgic trip so thank you. Would be interested in doing the same trip next year.

Rutland & Royalty - 8.5.22

We would, as usual, like to let you know how we felt about the recent trip to Rutland. Our driver was absolutely brilliant. Such a caring and happy man, who kept us amused with his cheeky humour and sometimes rather old jokes! We forgive him missing one of our suitcases on the homeward journey, but your staff whizzed round and it was back here within an hour of asking. First class service!

I have to write to say a big thankyou to you and your company for a great holiday. From the start the help from the booking staff was very kind. The coach itself was great with the best seats and legroom we have come across on any coach for a very long time. As for the driver, P, Top Man, he looked after us so well.

As for the hotel. It was very good with great staff, good room and high standard of food. This was the first time we have used your company as we have used other companies many times before.

Springtime in Devon - 18.4.22

I have just returned from one of the best holidays I've had with Woods - Dartington Hall in Totnes.

For us it was all 100% - the fresh, home or local grown meat and vegetables, organic where possible beautifully cooked, nice clean and well equipped rooms, beautiful grounds to wander around, a magnificent history told to us by a local volunteer on a tour around the estate and more.

The excursions were great, especially the Babbacombe model village - delightful for any age.
Who needs tv and telephones in the bedrooms? For us it was GOOD to be 'cut off' from all the stress of current news, so we didn't miss a thing!

Most definitely arrange another trip there for 2023 - we will be booking! HA of Horsham, W Sussex

Torquay at The Belgrave Sands - 4.4.22

Following our trip to Torquay we just wanted to say how much we enjoyed it, even more so thanks to our coach driver, M, who was absolutely brilliant and kept us entertained all the time. His driving was excellent, full of useful information and was always polite and happy.

The Belgrave was as usual outstanding and the staff exceptional. We are now looking forward to our next trip to Edinburgh in August.

Just back from a glorious week at Bodelwyddan Castle. It’s 9 years since I was last there with Woods – lots of changes, all improvements in hotel itself and around. As ever P was an excellent driver and host and those on the coach were fun. What more can you ask?

Happy New Year to everyone at Woods. I just wanted to say thank you for organising a lovely New Year break on Portland.

Myself and my partner had a lovely time, as did everyone else in our party. Everything was brilliant, the hotel, food, staff and service, entertainment and trips. Thoroughly enjoyed the pantomime and everything went swimmingly. The only downside was the weather but we can’t do anything about that. As usual the driver and courier excelled themselves.

Considering how hard it’s been for everyone, individuals and businesses, this last year, I was convinced up to the last minute that it would have to be cancelled. Thank goodness it wasn’t. It was an absolute pleasure.

What more can we say about the Lake District holiday that we haven’t before?! A HUGE thank you to all of you at Woods for making our holidays happen. I know how much work is involved to make these holidays work for everyone and everything goes like clockwork. The Coach, Hotel and Excursions were very Covid safe.

It was a delight to go back to such a special hotel in such a stunning area. All the staff were so very welcoming, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.

And what can I say about P?! He is a fantastically safe driver, so friendly and puts everyone at ease, and gave us so much information about where we were going and what to expect in the hotel and comfort stops etc. It was a full coach with so many ‘first timers’. P (and S) were always there for us all and kept smiling throughout the holiday. I'm sure the first timers will book on other holidays because of the quality of the holiday, but more importantly, how P went the extra mile for us – nothing was too much trouble.

I recently returned from The Grand Tour of Wales - my first time with Woods and I would like to commend you for providing a first-class service for people of a certain age, allowing us to leave all the pressure behind and just enjoy seeing different and interesting places!

If anyone asked me what I enjoyed most about the holiday - I would have replied in one word - P! Our driver was simply amazing - from time to time we encountered other wide vehicles on narrow roads, and he seemed to relish the challenge presented to him - it was fascinating to watch him manoeuvre the vehicle past other traffic with little or no space to spare. I have just returned from Ravenscar and had a lovely holiday despite the itinerary being changed and the weather not so good! The hotel was excellent with amazing views from the restaurant and bedrooms. The grounds were lovely to walk and sit in.There are wonderful walking opportunities from the hotel along the many local footpaths and which I made the most of whenever I had any spare time. It is such a beautiful and interesting area to have a holiday in.

If you ever do this holiday again, I would love to be on it. With my best wishes to you all and for the future.

Firstly, rather belatedly (still in holiday mode) may I thank you for arranging my holiday to Falmouth on 10th September. It was lovely and I appreciate why some things were replaced. But I must commend our driver R. He was friendly in a 'speak when you are spoken to' way, but most of all, I was very impressed by his driving. He was careful, considerate and very courteous to all other drivers. As I was in seat 2, I could watch him, and I thought he was one of the best.

I also went to Snowdonia in September and despite changes to the itinerary, I fully enjoyed my holiday. I love the Atlantic and Celtic Royal hotels. They have so much character, lovely rooms and amazing food.

I am really writing to thank you for taking me to the places I love since my husband died in 2016. I can only imagine what you are going through as a company in these hard and difficult times and I feel for you.

Romantic Journeys of The North – 02 September 2020

In view of the restrictions, superbly organised with hotel getting full marks. Thanks due to Woods staff for professionalism and extreme kindness to make this tour viable. The driver is due another Driver of the Year Award – Simply the best! JN of Waterlooville, Hampshire

A HUGE thank you to all of you at Woods for making our holiday happen. It all worked like clockwork and I appreciate normally there is a lot of work done in the background both before and afterwards, but this year there was an exceptional amount of extra work for you all to do to keep us all safe, both during the journeys as well as well as ensuring the hotel and excursions were Covid safe.

The taxi driver wore a mask and gloves and P (the driver) took our temperatures every day and made sure we sanitised our hands before we got on and off the coach, and the hotel felt very safe, with lots of cleaning, social distancing of tables etc, and the boats and train were very mindful of passengers numbers etc.

We are so pleased we didn’t cancel and it was a delight to go back to such a special hotel and fabulous area. We really appreciate all the extra work you have all done. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The staggered meal times worked well and the food again was delicious. The housekeeper changed our linen and towels mid week, which we weren’t expecting, and came twice a day to see if we needed any more coffee, water etc.

And what can I say about P that I didn’t last year?! He is a fantastically safe driver and I still don’t know how he managed to get the coach through the Kirkstone Pass – I would have struggled with my Fiat 500! He is so friendly and puts everyone at ease, and gave us so much information about where we were going and what to expect in the hotel and comfort stops etc. He was always there for all the passengers and kept smiling throughout the holiday. He is a great Ambassador for Woods but you already know that!

This was such a lovely relaxing holiday and thank you for Mums birthday card too. We have booked again for next year, with an upgrade to our room.

Do try and have a holiday in Glenridding – it is so peaceful and will perk up your petals – I can recommend Room 17!

My Mother & myself enjoyed a very pleasant Christmas at the Solent Hotel. The hotel always very clean and with a good team. The young man who looked after us in the restaurant worked hard and we found him very pleasant. He always remembered that my Mother and I like a decaffeinated coffee after our dinner. We enjoyed the Bucks Fizz at breakfast and the Champagne reception on Christmas Day. I especially enjoyed the buffet elements of our meals and the desserts, esp. those on Boxing Day. I have a very sweet tooth!

We loved the panto at Bournemouth and were very pleased at how T, the courier, looked after us all. She was always very attentive. Also pass on our thanks to the driver, J, for being an excellent and cheerful driver.

This was our first UK Christmas since 2011 as we normally go to Europe, but we didn’t want a long journey. Am so pleased we decided on the Cotswolds. The hotel certainty pulled out all the stops. The staff worked so hard, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The meals were delicious and the room was lovely too.

D was a very good safe driver, kept us informed of what was happening, and came round during dinner to make sure all was well. And thank you so much for the diffuser which smells very Christmassy. This was our best present yet from Woods.

We are so looking forward to Ludlow in May and we are also going back to the Lake District in September.

I have just returned from the Royal Marines Christmas Spectacular. We had a wonderful break. The Queens Hotel was well situated very near the cliff top so good for a daily visit to see the sea (not in).

Wow - why have I never been to the Lake District before - it is fabulous! If you have never been, do go!

This was such a lovely relaxing holiday - it was a very special hotel, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was excellent, the staff were attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Am so pleased I paid for an upgrade to a luxury room for Mum's birthday, it was the icing on the cake, along with the fantastic weather!

As well as being a safe driver, and managing to negotiate all the hair pin bends with such ease, P, our driver, was very friendly, helpful and cheery at all times, giving us very clear information about the places we were visiting and making sure the passengers travelling alone were OK and not on their own for dinner etc. And having our courier, S, was a bonus - they are a great team.

It all worked like clockwork, and I now know why people go back year after year! We are looking forward to receiving your new brochure, and will definitely book the Lake District again.

New Lanark Mill Hotel - Superb! Well done sticker to whoever found this heritage site! Edinburgh Tattoo seats were very good, would not wish to be any higher up the stand. Other stop off places were just right especially Stratford and Stamford.

I had not been there before and I enjoy G&S Operas so was attracted by seeing 'The Mikado' which was included. I am writing to say 'thank you' - I did get an aisle seat. The theatre is wonderful and the production good although I prefer the traditional Japanese costumes.

The company on the coach was so friendly and C, the driver/tour guide, was helpful and kept us informed. Nothing was too much bother. I have been with Woods many times and have enjoyed my holidays. Looking forward to joining you again in 2020. LH of Fareham, Hants

Yesterday I returned from the Torquay and Exeter canal tour and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The driver, J, was excellent. She was a very good driver and it was easy to plan our days with the information she gave us. The Redcliffe Hotel was very good. It was lovely not to have to choose dinner at breakfast and be able to choose from the very good and varied menu.

I have just returned from your Lake District tour to the 'Inn on the Lake' at Glenridding on Ullswater and feel a few comments are called for.

The hotel was excellent and the trips out were very good. C is an exceptional driver/courier and a great credit to himself, to you and his profession. When a replacement driver was needed at short notice to get us home, your organisation in arranging this was terrific, truly a tour de force.

Thank you so much for the 'Yorkshire' holiday. It did rain a tad, but we carried on! Our driver, L, was great, particularly when he had to turn around in a narrow country lane because of a fire. I have recently returned from a totally amazing week on the Isle of Man. Firstly, our coach driver, C, was brilliant; he went out of his way to help all of us enjoy our holiday to the max. I'm sure that the many men on this trip appreciated C's efforts to re-arrange one of the trips (by contacting your office) so that we could all travel the entire TT race route, us females were very happy too as we also saw the beautiful scenery which the motorbike riders miss as they hurtle by!

Thank you to Woods staff for making our holiday a success. I booked this trip to The Great Little Trains of Wales last year as a surprise gift for my husband's birthday this April. Your office staff followed my instructions for keeping any documents or calls being sent to our home address faithfully. And the holiday gift was a complete and happy surprise on the day.

We enjoyed the holiday and would like to praise R, our driver, who showed patience and kindness to disabled passengers in particular. He had a difficult and long drive home because of traffic conditions, but did a good job in spite of this.

The Royal Celtic hotel in Caernafon was excellent, and our room very clean and surprisingly spacious. There was a wonderful pool and spa too, which I enjoyed using very much. The staff were very good and the hotel well run.

I arrived back yesterday from the Treasures in Trust Eastern Shires tour. I was most impressed at the splendid organisation from start to finish. Excellent hotel, very comfortable coach and first class driver.

We have never spent Christmas away before and were apprehensive as to what to expect of Christmas in a hotel. Christmas Day at the Telford Hotel, Shropshire could not have been bettered. On each door a goodies bag hung, a lovely thought on behalf of the hotel. Bridgnorth to Kidderminster train was a lovely leisurely day out with a good meal at the train station.

Driver, S, was very capable and Courier, T, is an asset to Woods, caring for passengers all the time. The hotel staff were excellent and the manager led from the top and was visible throughout our stay.

My mother and I have just returned from a most enjoyable mini break at Littlecote House Warner's Hotel. My husband and I would like to praise the efficiency and professionalism of your driver, P, during our Blackpool Illuminations Tour. He overcame some difficulties with the coach and on arriving at the hotel had a difficult space to reverse into in the dark and pouring rain.

Throughout our stay, P chatted to everyone and stayed with us into the evening when he must have wanted to sleep. He couldn't have been more considerate and drove as if he knew the roads well, obviously having researched the area well in advance.

Last week I went on my first 'Woods' holiday on the Norfolk Paddle and Steam trip. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was well planned and organised and the brochure described it well.

The hotel was good with friendly staff, but it was our driver, C, who made the holiday. He was so friendly and relaxed and always made sure everyone was looked after and made to feel special. Even when one of the ladies was late for the coach one day, he made an awkward situation into a laugh which encouraged a friendly atmosphere to develop. He also drove with skill and apparent ease.

We have just returned from your trip to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Borders and wanted to let you know what an excellent ambassador for Woods your driver B is. This was our first coach trip and we were so impressed with how he looked after all his passengers, some of who had mobility issues, he clearly went above and beyond what would be expected. Thank you for a very memorable Ypres, Passchendaele & Memories of WW1 coach tour on 13th July, made even more enjoyable by the driver’s extensive knowledge of this period in history. He really did go the extra mile to make sure all went well, and in my view had the timings for each visit just right (considering the intense heat each day). Also the very comfortable and ideally placed Ariane Hotel was a bonus, with staff who were very kind and professional at all times. I only wish I’d been able to stay there for longer!

The Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton was very comfortable and the staff could not have been more helpful. The excursions were well planned and, despite the heat, we enjoyed adequate free time in all locations.

We really enjoyed the trip round Portland and the weather was so hot we couldn't eat our ice creams before they melted! The Sculptures by the Lake were brilliant and well worth the long walk. Monday came too soon and we were on our way back to Bognor Regis, with a lunch stop at Bournemouth.

We could not finish this letter without a mention of our driver, J, who was a real pleasure to be with. She treated everyone with courtesy and involved herself where she could, and is a very good driver. Cardiff and The Royal Mint was such a good holiday and South Wales excelled itself with very sunny weather and very little rain. We needed summer clothes and not waterproofs! The Angel Hotel team gave wonderful service and from the farewell the team there gave us on our departure, they were more than pleased with our stay.

Well, the main object of this letter is to sing the praises of B, our driver. In the 15 years of holidays with you, I rate him as the best driver yet. What an asset to your company! Just to say what a wonderful trip the Dutch Bulbfields was (20-23 April). Fabulous hotel, wonderful weather and a delightful driver. I don't know how he stayed so cheerful with the horrendous traffic and tight corners around the hotel.

My friend, who had never been on a coach holiday before, was very impressed with the organisation too and enjoyed the whole holiday very much.

I feel I must write and tell you how much my daughter and I enjoyed our 5 night break on the "Cruise to Nowhere" last week as part of your Cruising to Liverpool Tour. From the moment we stepped on to the coach your courier and driver made us so welcome. They were both caring, friendly and considerate to all our needs. They really made this a first class holiday.

I have just returned from your 'Spring Gardens of Cornwall' trip. The weather was unusually cold for this time of year but this was mitigated for us somewhat by the intelligent use of the timetable by your driver. Your drivers are always courteous but on this occasion the driver made a huge difference to our enjoyment by consulting the passengers about timings when the weather was adverse. He took into consideration the feelings of the whole coach, ensuring we were never left shivering in the rain simply because the itinerary said so.

The Rosemundy Hotel, as on previous visits, was delightful with unusually interesting food. I felt it was largely due to the driver that we had a thoroughly harmonious, co-operative, helpful group with made for a most enjoyable trip. CB of Midhurst, West Sussex

We have just returned from the Cruise to Liverpool. What a fabulous holiday, made from start to finish by your amazing driver J. What a sweet girl she was, so professional, patient and caring.
We were also lucky enough to have the lovely T as our tour escort, what a fabulous team.

The start of the holiday was a taster Cruise to Liverpool on the Fred Olson Black Watch. Everywhere on the ship was spotless, the staff in all parts of the ship were so beautifully turned out crisp and clean. Dining menu was varied and service was efficient, and there was a wide variety of day and evening activities.

The hotel was in beautiful surroundings, clean areas and pleasant staff. Liverpool was amazing with a tour guide who gave a fabulous commentary and played guitar and sang. Having only recently “discovered” that Surrey came in the area for door to door Woods travel, our first trip was to St Agnes for Tinsel and Turkey and we have now returned from a really enjoyable Easter Holiday, Easter Lakes & Dales, to the Shap Wells Hotel.

Our driver was first class, very friendly, helpful and informative on excursions. The hotel location was spectacular and the content of day trips very well planned. We are right now perusing the 2018 brochure in the hope that there may still be availability on Summer month holidays as we very much hope to enjoy many more travels with Woods.

Another splendid Woods holiday on 'Paris Afloat', thank you. The accommodation on Seine Princess was very good, and cabins were a good size for two people. Food excellent.

The coach was comfortable and suitable for long journeys. The coach driver showed a high standard of driving, and his road knowledge was most acceptable. I have just returned from what was my 7th holiday with your company, 'North Wales, Coast and Country, and feel that I must let you know a few thoughts following this holiday.

Problems that occurred the first night at the hotel were dealt with straight away by the driver and improvements made. I cannot praise L, the driver, highly enough, he went above and beyond to ensure we all enjoyed our holiday from start to finish. I must also add this applies to your other drivers/couriers I have travelled with.

I just had to put pen to paper to say how good it was to be back at The Feathers Hotel for your Ludlow Winter Warmer tour. It really has a magical feeling. I have just returned from the five-day Ludlow Winter Warmer tour and wanted to say how excellent your coach driver was at all times. His driving was impeccable in the most extreme weather conditions that we have experienced in a very long time.

L was careful, good-humoured and patient, always having the welfare of his group paramount in his mind. He was caring and helpful with advice, even when we left the coach on a visit. I'm sure that we all felt totally safe in his hands at all times and he needs to be congratulated.

Following my trip to Shrigley Hall Hotel in Cheshire, I felt I must stress how good P was with his driving and coping with the weather on the tour. As you know the roads to the hotel are narrow and full of hills - not gritted. Even the local staff stayed one night rather than drive on them. He got us back safely, even with part of the A34 closed.

Roll on Saturday and I hope the wind eases, the channel is calm and Paris is not snowed in for the Paris Afloat tour. PM of Bognor Regis, West Sussex

My friends and I have just returned from our break at Alvaston Hall. This was the only Warner’s hotel we had not visited. Following its multi-million pound make-over a few years ago, it was something to see.

The whole holiday was good, with K, our driver, an excellent ambassador for Woods. Our trip to Port Sunlight was particularly enjoyable. The tour guide round the village was very knowledgeable and was able to get across a lot of interesting facts without us feeling we were being “lectured”.

Thank you for the enjoyable Christmas spent at the Telford Hotel, which was a very warm and comfortable hotel. There was a good menu selection and the food was well cooked and presented, and staff were very pleasant and helpful. The outings were well planned, with the highlight being the trip on the Severn Valley Railway.

I have recently returned from your tour "A Wight Christmas" and should like to say how enjoyable it was. The hotel was welcoming and the entertainment provided was lively and fun, especially the carols and quizzes. The meals really were excellent and the staff were attentive and cheerful.

Our driver, R, was as ever careful and helpful, and our hostess, M, cheerfully made sure we were all OK. Of the three Christmas holidays I have spent with you, I think this was the best. We had a wonderful holiday in the Italian Lakes (apart from the rain) and we even experienced a very heavy snowstorm on the return journey. Iseo Lago hotel was very clean and comfortable and we were amazed to receive free wine with our meals. The staff were delightful and the food was very good. The Christmas Day buffet lunch was wonderful and it was so nice to be included in the celebrations with their other guests.

The overnight stays in Victor's Residenz, Saarlouis were, without doubt, the best we have ever had. Again the staff were welcoming, the rooms were very good, the food was delicious and plentiful and the dining room was lovely.

A little feedback on your Shropshire Christmas Tour. Telford Hotel & Golf Resort, excellent, they went out of their way to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Content of holiday, very enjoyable and the Severn Valley Railway a treat, the lunch in the Railway station was particularly enjoyed.

Needless to say L, our driver, was outstanding. Thoughtful, caring, attentive and an extremely good driver, he went out of his way to make the holiday the success it was. His driving during the journey home with snow on the roads was very, very good.

We had a great holiday at Telford on your Shropshire Christmas break, and I don’t think I have laughed so much in years. The driver, L, welded us into a group from the moment he acquired us – he is such a good people person – so that from day one we became a single entity rather than a bunch of individuals.

Before the bad weather kicked in we were due to be home about six’ish. The driver changed the route to the safest one he could find, even en route. He kept us fully informed and in high spirits and I walked into my house at 5.45 pm. Brilliant!

I left myself no room on the tour questionnaire to 'sing the praises' of your driver and courier. They brought a lot of care and good cheer to our Cornish Mistletoe & Wine holiday. They really do make it a very happy experience travelling with Woods.

I enjoyed our holiday 'Treasures in Trust - Staffordshire' last month. We thought the itinerary was excellent and, as usual, my husband enjoyed a double portion of cream on the train journey as I don't like it. The National Museum of Childhood was brilliant, and gave us some ideas for our new museum in Rustington. Two National Trust volunteers at Lyme Park also persuaded me to 'dress up.'

I have just returned home from your wonderful 4-day break to Weymouth. Well organised, good weather and Hotel Rex was great, on the seafront with a room facing the bay. The programme was good, although a bit disappointed with Dorchester. Shaftesbury well made up for that with Gold Hill and the interesting museum at the top with very enthusiastic staff.

The young guide at Athelhampton House was also excellent and knowledgeable, and the stop at Bournemouth on our way home was a great idea.

Our driver, P, was very helpful and made sure our taxi was waiting for us when we got to Brighton. Looking forward to travelling with you again next July.

I enjoyed my holiday to Ayrshire & Arran enormously. I was aware of some discontent about the hotel, but I found the staff at the Irvine were kindness itself.

The excursions were delightful, although Culzean Castle is a bit inaccessible for poor walkers and on that day the buggies were reserved for a wedding party. Arran was its wonderful self and a joy to behold. The icing on the cake was the pipe band playing on the terrace in front of Brodick Castle in the mist and slight drizzle – so atmospheric. The highlights of the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies were everything I’d hoped for and so well organised by the driver, who got us everywhere in plenty of time.

Mr friends and I love to receive your brochure. It’s an excuse for a lunch and to decide which tour to choose.

My wife and I returned a week ago from a four-night coach trip to Sudbury and a very interesting tour of that part of Suffolk. The whole experience was excellent, especially the Mill Hotel and the friendliness and expertise of our driver. DC of Worthing, West Sussex

We have just returned from the Shropshire and the Dee Valley tour and it was quite delightful. The scenery was absolutely wonderful, the hotel and our bedroom were first class, the visit to Shrewsbury and the boat trip were great. We enjoyed the train, and the cruise along the Llangollen Canal was superb.

When we got out of the taxi at Brighton, it is always a bonus to see our driver is P. He is really people friendly and so conscientious about looking after everyone, and enjoying doing it which makes the holiday so special. The coach was very comfortable and the driving was smooth and safe.

We have just returned from Belfast & The Antrim Coast. We enjoyed the tour very much as it was one of our suggestions about 18 months ago. Belfast was great and all the tours were good. The open-top bus tour was made all the more enjoyable as the guide knew all there is to know about Belfast. The hotel room was clean and the food was good, but the service was slow.

Our driver, K, was lovely and her driving was excellent as some of the roads were narrow in N. Ireland. Her relationship with the passengers was good and she kept us informed all day.

My husband and I returned from the North Yorks Moors tour last Friday. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, the hotel was beautiful, good food and accommodation.

When a member of the group fell ill you ensured that she was well cared for before we moved on – and we know from your subsequent comments that you continued to show a concern for her well-being.

We realised you were dismayed by the cable car fiasco, but you acted quickly to compensate and we were delighted to find the promised cheque for £28 waiting for us when we arrived home. Thank you very much!

When you heard that there were delays to the ferries on Saturday you acted quickly to make alternative arrangements, and we certainly appreciated arriving home without any delay via the tunnel.

I have to say a huge thank you to Woods Travel Ltd, we had the most amazing day. The coach and driver were excellent, we enjoyed the journey through London, having a chance to enjoy the sights! So easy to be dropped off a short distance from the theatre with plenty of time for a leisurely lunch, and a short look around. 'Annie' is a fabulous, would recommend the show to anybody, great production! And to finish the day, a short walk back to the pickup point to sit back and relax whilst being driven home. We have been on many of your tours now, but our holiday to Tenby was absolutely wonderful. The hotel was first class, the staff all very friendly and welcoming and the food was superb. Our driver, T, made the trip exceptional.

The tour was a delight. The visit to the Coracle Centre was an experience in itself as the owner was a very entertaining speaker and brought the whole centre to life. The concert in Tenby on our first evening was also unexpected and enjoyable.

The food was really special and everything was prepared and cooked well. The Welsh beef and Welsh lamb were a delight as were all the menus and the staff.

I went on the river cruise to Holland and the Bulbfields - it was more than I had expected.I couldn't fault it in any way. It will be a holiday that I will look back on as a once in a lifetime experience.

My friend and I have just returned from Christmas at Orton Hall, our first visit. As you will understand, we had a very good time and can see why people go back year after year.

I would like to express my thanks to Woods for the excellent 'Ludlow at Christmas' holiday - which was thoroughly enjoyable in every way.

The beautiful old hotel was certainly interesting – so many stairs and passages – a really intriguing place! The food throughout was excellent the service first class and, without exception, we were served quietly, courteously and without fuss. The whole staff, without exception, were friendly, courteous and helpful at all times.

R, our driver, was first class – having to cope with diversions and long, tedious lines of traffic about which he could nothing. He was cheerful throughout and most helpful to the disabled people in the party.

What a fabulous Christmas holiday we all had! This was the first 'Woods' Christmas we have had and it was certainly was a memorable one. It made a huge difference getting there on the same day, and not being so tired after two days traveling!

The hotel was delightful - our room, the food, and staff were exceptional.

It was lovely having P and K with us, who worked very well as a team. Their driving was excellent, especially in the very bad fog both in Europe and the UK. They were always making sure everyone was having a good time, and the whole trip ran like clockwork. They dealt with a problem on the way back very efficiently and effectively. I am sure they are a great addition to the Woods team.

And thank you for our present - the nicest we have ever had from you. We will burn the candle on New Year's Eve.

I was fortunate enough to go on your coach holiday “Swiss Trains and Italian Lakes on June 4th . Not only was it a unique trip covering three wonderful trips up to the mountains of Switzerland also Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. This trip went to parts of Switzerland that you don’t see on any other companies by plane or coach.

I have been all over the world including Switzerland and seen many beautiful places but I can honestly say the trip from the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz to the mountain of Brienzer Rothorn by train, stopping off for lunch about three-quarters of the way up there the view simply took your breath away it was so beautiful.

Thank you so much for devising this trip but also the care and attention you gave us. A special thanks to our driver L who was brilliant. I would even do the trip again another year which is rare for me to say.

A couple of weeks ago I travelled on 'Coachy McCoachface' to see Fred Dibnah Concorde and Beyond. I had another fantastic time - never a dull moment for me.

First trip to Manchester Airport and Concorde - took my breath away, another one off the bucket list, and Fred Dibnah - another memorable time.

Liverpool was fabulous, you could spend a week there!

We have just returned from the 'Fred Dibnah, Concorde and Beyond' tour. I can't stop talking about it, it was the best holiday I have had in years. There was nothing about the tour to complain about, our coach driver P was excellent, the hotel was very good and the food was excellent.

We were all given Boarding Pass certificates, when we returned to the coach after visiting the fabulous Concorde, it was the finishing highlight of the visit. The visit to Fred Dibnah's house was fascinating.

We are writing to say what a lovely holiday we had recently to Vianden in Luxenbourg. The pick up and drop off taxies were good and our driver R was excellent and it was also nice to have awelcome drink on arrival after our long journey.
The Grand Hotel in Vianden was excellent for food although we did struggle withthe four courses at that time in the evening! All the staff were very friendly.
We enjoyed all the trips, found them interesting and loved the scenery and particularly enjoyed our visit to the castle overlooking Vianden, well worth a visit, good value for the money, plenty of see as you can go all over it.

Just came back from a 5 day break with Woods in Germany to see Andre Rieu it was the best break ever all the coach got on with each other and on the last night all had drinks in the bar and shared stories. Austrian Salzburgerland - Our best Christmas yet, it was perfect including the weather, sun every day, ideal for walking especially with our guide. Travelling alone is more of a challenge, but I do find that invariably the Woods clientelle are most friendly.

The Royal Duchy Hotel has proved to be the best yet with Woods. The staff were very friendly, but professional and the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms and the hotel in general were faultless.

I have been travelling with Woods since the early nineties and I do admire the slick operation in your pick-up system.

P is a good driver and he is presented with various challenges, especially with our age group, but he remains good-humoured and helpful.

'We have not yet settled down from our holiday to Skye and Oban. It was really a wonderful tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was a lot of travelling but it was worth it to see the places we have not seen for a couple of years and the weather was much better than they had enjoyed up there during the summer.

We felt so sorry for our driver since the journey up to Carlisle was so busy with lorries and so many road works. The next day was a little better for him since it was pouring with rain for most of the journey to Mallaig. He was so good natured, patient and so safe on the road and made our holiday.

I must mention that the staff in every hotel where we stayed were so pleasant, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, even the staff in Carlisle where we were overdue due to the travelling conditions. M was a star & nothing was too much trouble for him, he obviously has done a lot of research on the area. He sorted out a few problems with the hotel with a maturity beyond his years & is an asset to your company. He cleaned his coach inside & out everyday & supplied us with bags for our rubbish.

I found the hotel pleasant, clean & friendly. Towels were changed everyday & bed linen every other day, I found the food very good it's all sourced locally & cooked from scratch. Chef does a mean liver & bacon which was by our request.

'Holland and Rhine cruise - I felt I should write to say how much we enjoyed the cruise. The organisations by Woods was excellent and at all times the holiday was a real success.

We were very impressed by T, our driver. He found very pleasant places to stop and get something to eat - not too large but with all that we needed. He arranged the coach near the lift on the ferry which was so helpful for my husband and the coach journey was a comfortable part of the holiday. He explained the problem with the time of the boat's departure and we all felt part of the excitement !!!

Our courier, T, was superb. From the start of the holiday she made sure that everybody had a good holiday. She ensured that anybody on their own was not left out and she checked on the group regularly to see that we all had what we wanted. I think the holiday was such a success because of the way T looked after the group. We have been on other river cruises but have never had a courier who spent much of their time with the group - not just giving information but joining in with us but at the same time with no intrusion. She is excellent.

I am writing to let you know what a lovely holiday we had recently and in particular staying at Gisborough Hall Hotel. This hotel was truly amazing especially the hospitality shown to us by the staff and we really enjoyed the selection of food. My sister and myself were so pleased to have a ground floor room with both bath and shower facilities as requested.

Our driver E was superb. His helpfulness in assisting us on to the coach was brilliant and we are both extremely thankful.

I would also like to mention the services of our courier for the four days of our holiday. His knowledge of the surrounding area was first class and also very interesting.

The first full day in North Wales when we went on the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways, this was absolutely splendid in every way, perfectly organised, really enjoyable in the wonderful weather we experienced the whole week.

Our coach driver R is a very safe and professional driver on the roads. He was kind to us all, sorting out problems. On Day 4 the times changed and it worked very well. Portmeirion is such a fantastic place, we needed time to see all of it. Bala Lake Railway was next, but we got the train at Llanuwchllyn, I think, and returned to Bala. 'Christmas Holiday in the Austrian Tyrol.

Both my wife and I had a really lovely time on what was the first Christmas away in 45 years. The travel was well planned, although delays due to weather can never be predicted.

We were well looked after throughout and the hotel Plankenhof was quite outstanding. Out of all the hotels over the years that we have stayed at, we have never had such good care and service such as this.

'I would like take this opportunity to thank Woods Travel for a most enjoyable Christmas trip. Not having been away over the Christmas period, my wife and I decided to try your Christmas in Switzerland and the Golden Pass trip, we were not disappointed.

From the cab who picked us up to take us to Patcham to the time we got to Maidstone on the ferry coach, the morning was so well planned.

Our coach journey through France and into Villars was made special by the driver, I and the Courier C, nothing was too much trouble for them throughout the trip, always in good spirits and fun.

The food at all three hotels was very good with our Christmas Eve Lunch and Dinner being exceptional.

I must say, on our journey from Villars to Riems was a very long period sitting in a coach, but the way I got us to the hotel was very professional driving under very bad weather conditions.

Our Christmas morning gifts from Woods was a nice touch as was the present from the hotel.

'Mr M and I recently travelled with Woods to the Trouville Hotel in Sandown. This was our first Christmas away and we really didn't know quite what to expect so went along with very open minds.

We were in no way disappointed. From the taxi pick up at 7.45 am prompt to the drop off on Sunday 28th we really couldn't fault anything (not that we were looking to).

T (courier) and R (driver) proved to be extremely good company and were very professional when it came to the serious stuff. The Trouville was a very comfortable hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful to the point of joining in with our sense of humour.

The quality of the food (and quantity) was excellent, had we not been more disciplined we could have easily exceeded the ferry's max weight restriction on the way home.'

'I have just returned from my first holiday experience with Woods - Blackpool Illuminations & Windermere and thought you like to hear my comments. My collection taxi was punctual and the driver first class. Meeting the main coach at Patcham which was also punctual - it worked perfectly.

The journey to Blackpool was good until we reached the traffic jams up north - not the fault of anyone really but I felt sorry for our wonderful driver R who even contacted our hotel to warn of our late arrival.

The food was very good and the waiting staff all excellent, friendly and helpful.

Along with many others I really enjoyed the Tower Circus - amazing!

The trip home all went well and we made up time - taxi pick up was on time and right to the door and he even saw I got in safe. I have never been treated so well - thank you very much indeed. 'Dordogne - Another successful holiday, again everything was good, surroundings, hotels and the weather but especially T and A. T is such a good and careful driver and he is so good with the passengers; he puts them at ease throughout the holiday. 'I am writing to thank you for yet another excellent holiday: Richard III and the Battle of Bosworth. The guided tour of Leicester was most enjoyable, though needed a break in the 2½ hours. However, he was an exceptionally good speaker so that carried us along!

The re-enactment of the Battle the next day was also interesting. I enjoyed the exhibition, stalls and lectures most, chiefly because the arena had no seating.

The visit to Barnsdale Gardens and the Rutland Water boat trip were restful between the previous day's travelling and the following more tiring days.

P our driver was cheerful, helpful and considerate of his passengers and a good driver too. The hotel was most comfortable.

'My wife and I have just returned from holiday to Cornwall ( Doc Martin and the Cornish coast).
I would like to say what a wonderful trip this was. The hotel was very good and the food very enjoyable. I feel the most thanks should go to your driver T. We always felt very safe, and the ride was very smooth and comfortable.

On one of the day trips to Lands End, T came back along the coast road. The views to the left and right were amazing. This road was not built for large vehicles, but T's driving skill saw us safely to the end of the road.

We also had chats to T in the hotel at dinner, about how the day had been,and had we got any problems.

We were making very good progress on the way home until the closure of the A27 this caused us a delay but could not be helped T had to ring the taxis drivers to sort out times of arrival but all worked out in the end.

'Austria in the Summer!

See in the Summer was just as lovely as it was in the winter, plus it was good we were able to visit places we couldn’t at Christmas because of the snow.

The room and the food were again excellent, and all the staff very friendly, helpful and hard working. Although I said on my form that the service was good, rather than excellent, it was because the hotel was full so it was very slow. Sometimes we were still waiting for our main meal, whilst some of our passengers had eaten their pudding and left, so it was a bit of a rush when we went to the Tyrol evening in the village. However it certainly didn’t affect our enjoyment of our time there.

The itinerary was good, and the 2 tour guides we had made it so interesting, and we could hear everything they said.

R again was an excellent and safe driver. His knowledge of the countries en route, as well as local knowledge was such a help, as well as interesting. He is attentive and caring to his passengers especially those less able. He negotiated all the hair pin bends up in the mountains, with ease, as well as reversing down a long way into a passing place - it was so skillful - nothing seems to stress him! I do hope he will be our driver when we go to the Black Forest.

'I am so pleased you suggested that we went to Vianden when our Austria holiday was cancelled - it was delightful.

The hotel staff were very attentive - the rooms were very clean and spacious with plenty of hot water and we had a good choice of food in the evenings, plus the wine was very reasonable.

The highlights (apart from the hot and sunny weather) was the tour around Luxembourg, both in the coach and on foot - the guide was very knowledgeable - you could hear every word he said and answered all our questions. And what a find J was with the wine tasting - we expected to be indoors for the tasting, but we went by coach to look at the wine growing region and had some wine and then sat in her garden for more...! She was a delightful host.

And of course, not forgetting R who drove expertly and went the extra mile for us all - it was fine sitting near the back as he always opened the side door without being asked. We are so pleased he will be driving us to Austria in July.'

'Vianden - Another lovely holiday with Woods and also blessed with good weather.

The hotel was very good and we had a choice of menu at dinner, it wasn't a set menu.

R our driver was excellent and indeed he went out of his way on each excursion to make it interesting. He also tried to take a different route on our return to our hotel. You arranged some lovely excursions and the wine tasting was very good. R drove us up to the top of the vineyard and the view was very impressive. I am pleased to hear he will be our driver when we go to Austria in July.

The tour around the city was very good both on the coach and walking and the guide was very knowledgeable and interesting.

'Dublin Trains & Gardens (new holiday)
The journey to Wales was very enjoyable and picturesque. The overnight hotel, Kinmel Manor, was excellent, good accommodation, nice televisions and very good food.

The sea crossing to Dublin was smooth and comfortable; you might make it know that it is well worth treating yourself to an upgrade to the executive lounge where you can enjoy free coffee, tea, wine, fruit, cheese, biscuits, newspapers and magazines. My wife and I can strongly recommend it.

The train ride to Malahide with guide was brilliant as was the tea and scones. Powerscourt House and Gardens are also well worth seeing.

The Wicklow Mountains drive was memorable and made more enjoyable by J our lovely driver.

'Thank you for the letter regarding our eventful journey home from Paris on 11th March. I would like to add a huge thank you to the many already sent to T and P. They were magnificent, and behaved with the utmost professionalism under such stressful circumstances that they would have been forgiven for the odd rude word, however they showed no sign of how tired and frustrated they must have felt.

My husband and I cannot convey enough how well looked after we were and how both drivers took every opportunity to keep us informed of the situation.

T also stepped up to the mark when he was requested by the police to stop people from passing our coach on the hard shoulder, which would have impeded the rescue services activities, a responsibility which required him to keep going out in the cold snow and confront strangers at his own personal risk. His charming way with these strangers ensured the rescue effort ahead of us the success it was.

Finally, we also appreciate the tremendous effort of the Woods team back home, as they kept in regular touch of our progress and the effort involved in finding, or driving taxis to get us home.

Lets hope you never experience that kind of event again, however, if you should I am sure your passengers will be the warmest and most comfortable in the whole gridlock.

To me this is over and above the call of duty and I felt very thrilled that he had bothered to do this as they are of great sentimental value to me.

'I have recently enjoyed the Welsh Adventure holiday which you organised and should like to say how much I appreciated it. The range of interest which it covered was wide and most interesting and, even when it rained, the scenery was lovely. The hotels, the Metropolitan in Llandrindod Wells was excellent, the Kinmel Manor Hotel in Abergele almost as good especially as it wa probably the end of season for them.

I should also like to commend T our driver who had one or two emergencies to deal with and coped with them quietly and efficiently, and I was always confident of his driving even on the most narrow and hazardous of roads. He was helpful and cheerful.

One last thing, I did appreciate the town maps which were supplied. They are very useful especially if you have limited time in a town you don't know well.

'We have recently returned from the County Durham tour and wanted to write to express our complete satisfaction. We have never joined a coach tour before and have heard some very poor reports but we have nothing but praise for the arrangements and travel that we enjoyed on your tour. Our taxi arrived on time, the coach was comfortable, M, our driver could not have been more courteous, polite or helpful, the journey never seemed long even though on the map Durham looks quite a distance from Sussex! The hotel was very comfortable, set in lovely grounds and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We could not fault the meals, not that we tried. The menu offered a good choice and we particularly enjoyed the breakfasts and the vast choices available.

The guide who joined us at Durham on our frist day was very friendly and did not rush the group and spoke very well and showed us things that we might not have recognised or been able to visit. The short cruise was well enjoyed and we were surprised at the meal that was offered to us and how well it was presented.

M was a very good, quiet driver and we enjoyed the route he took across the Dales and we were blessed with wonderful weather which obviously made it so pleasant.

We had always wanted to visit Beamish, but were never near enough on our holidays for that to be possible and we enjoyed that so much.

It was a very well thought out tour showing us so many things and beautiful countryside. We would like to thank you for your arrangements which gave us such a lovely holiday and we look forward to another of your holidays in the future. 'You were right - the Seine Princess is a marvellous vessel! We had a splendid time cruising along the Seine and the Purser M, and his crew were lovely and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure everyone had a good time, which must have been a challenge as there were so many different languages! The food was excellent and the waiting staff very attentive, and the cabins very spacious and clean. All the crew were welcoming and smiling - full marks to Croisi Europe!

T, our driver is a real credit to Woods. He was always making sure we were all ok even when he wasn't driving and we were chilling out on deck, and most importantly he is a very safe driver. Full credit to him driving us around the Arc de Triomphe! He loves his job and that certainly comes over. Also it was good have T (our courier) with us making sure everything was running smoothly and sorting out everyone's dietary requests, of which there were many.

The itinerary was excellent and at just the right pace with busy days and relaxing days and the highlight was cruising along the Seine at night and the surprise when we went past the Eiffel Tower!'

'I have recently returned from a Christmas holiday with Woods (Avisford Park) and would like to say how much my friend and I enjoyed it.

We basked in warm sunshine as we visited the most interesting of places; Penshurst, Hever Castle, Leeds Castle, Hole Park Gardens and Rye: fantastic.

Now aged 90 with wide experience of many aspects of the travel industry in the UK and abroad, I am a shrewd judge of quality. As I am slightly disabled being picked up from home and delivered back is a great asset and also having no problem with my luggage along the way. I also appreciated the way in which the order was reversed on the return journey so that those who were picked up first were also dropped off first. The coach was very comfortable.

He was an excellent driver and throughout the whole tour, especially on tricky, narrow roads, we had complete confidence in his exceptional skill and judgement. I have known drivers who rant on at length in a way which drives everybody to sleep but E got it just right. Whenever we stopped he had my disabled 'wheelbarrow' at the ready!
