We join CroisiEurope aboard one of their wonderful ships for a delightful seven-day cruise from Honfleur to Paris. We travel in comfort along the Seine through beautiful Normandy countryside, visit picturesque villages along the way, and arrive in Paris to take in the sights. Day 1 An early pick up by taxi is required to meet our coach and transfer to Dover for the Channel crossing to Calais. We arrive early afternoon and travel to Honfleur for embarkation late afternoon. Meet your crew at a welcome cocktail party before dinner.
Day 2 This morning is free to explore the picturesque fishing town of Honfleur. Stroll along the narrow streets lined with quaint houses, sip coffee in the many cafés, or visit the Church of St Catherine, the largest wooden church in France. There is also an optional guided tour of the town. After lunch on board, we travel by coach to Trouville, where you can explore the pretty harbourside. Alternatively, there is an optional excursion to Côte Fleurie and a Calvados Distillery. Return on board for dinner.
Day 3 An early morning sailing from Honfleur. After breakfast on board, we explore the Abbey Trail by coach – Jumièges to see the ruin of one of the most beautiful abbeys in France, and the Church of St Peter, a wonderful example of 10th-century Norman architecture. We re-board in time for lunch before we continue sailing to Rouen. Free time in Rouen or an optional guided walking tour of this historic city. Visit the cathedral, the historic quarters and the Place du Vieux Marché where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. Return on board for dinner and an evening sailing.
Day 4 An optional excursion to the Foundation Claude Monet in Giverny, where you can visit his famous studio and explore the water gardens which were the muse of the founder of French Impressionism. This afternoon we cruise from the countryside into the urban, as we enter the outskirts of Paris and the futuristic district of La Defense. Toward evening we arrive in Paris in all her lighted splendour, and cruise along the Seine to take in the city by night (water level depending).
Day 5 This morning relax on board as we cruise south to Melun. After lunch join the optional excursion to the Palace of Fontainebleau, the residence of 34 kings and two emperors over eight centuries. The palace has 1,500 rooms and is the most furnished château in the country. Its magnificent gardens are a contrast between the English and French styles of horticulture.
Day 6 After a morning cruising, after lunch enjoy an included guided coach tour of Paris taking in the Place de la Concorde, Champs Élysées, Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. Tonight, we have our Gala Evening.
Day 7 We disembark after breakfast and make our way to Calais for our afternoon Channel crossing. We return to the local area and our taxis in the evening.
Our ship is a member of the wonderful CroisiEurope fleet. The 67 cabins all have private facilities with showers, and are equipped with TV, safe, hairdryer and airconditioning. There is a delightful panoramic lounge with a dance floor and a bar, a comfortable restaurant (set menu), and a sundeck. There is no lift, and main deck cabins are accessed down stairs.
