We also take in Whitby and Bridlington and sample the history and the ale of this beautiful corner of Yorkshire.
ITINERARY
Day 1 After your taxi pick up, we travel north to Yorkshire making suitable refreshment stops along the way, arriving in time for dinner.
Day 2 We head to the village of Cropton, on the edge of the moors, where we visit the Cropton Brewery for a half pint of traditional local ale. We then visit Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton-le-Hole, Yorkshire’s leading open air museum with delightful insight into the lives of ordinary people.
Day 3 A free day to discover Scarborough.
Day 4 This morning we take the Southern Moors Road to Pickering where we join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Goathland (The setting for Aidensfield in Heartbeat). We then make our way by coach to Whitby, where we will have some free time. We return to the hotel having spent the day in the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Moors.
Day 5 We travel through Thornton-le-Dale to Castle Howard. For over 300 years this palatial stately home has commanded its position over the Howardian Hills and will be recognised as the setting for TV’s ‘Brideshead Revisited’. There is time to visit the house and stroll around the delightful grounds before we travel the short distance to Yorkshire Lavender.
Day 6 A morning visit to the pleasant seaside town of Bridlington. The afternoon is free in Scarborough.
Day 7 After breakfast we travel home via the National Memorial Arboretum, arriving in the local area late afternoon.
