NEW TOUR
During our visit to the ancient kingdom of the East Angles we venture into Norfolk and King’s Lynn, Suffolk and Bury St Edmonds as well as enjoying a Dad’s Army Tour in Thetford, and taking in Ely, Cambridge and the royal residence at Sandringham.
ITINERARY
Day 1 After a taxi pick up from your home, we make our way via Saffron Walden to the outskirts of Peterborough and our hotel. A welcome drink will be served before dinner for a chance to meet your fellow guests.
Day 2 We travel south into Suffolk to the historic gem of Bury St Edmunds, an important market town with a richly fascinating heritage, medieval architecture, elegant Georgian squares and the glorious Cathedral and Abbey gardens.
Day 3 Into Norfolk for a visit to Sandringham, the much-loved country retreat of The Queen, and private home to four generations of British monarchs since 1862. The house is set in 24 acres of stunning gardens in the heart of the 8000-hectare estate. We have included entrance to the house, gardens and the museum which houses royal artefacts and everything from tiny Indian dolls to a 1939 Merryweather fire engine. Before returning to our hotel, we spend some time in King’s Lynn.
Day 4 We travel again through the pretty villages of Norfolk and make a stop at Downham Market. From here we continue to Thetford, where we have included a ‘Dad’s Army’ walking tour of the village. After free time for lunch we continue to Ely, where you can find the Museum of Stained Glass in the magnificent cathedral, visit Oliver Cromwell’s house or just sit on the pleasant riverside.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel to the University city of Cambridge, where there will be time for lunch and sightseeing. We then continue to the local area where we meet our taxis.
