NEW TOUR
Join us on this wonderful tour through the rugged Yorkshire Dales visiting many of the sites made famous by James Herriot in ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. We visit the original surgery in Thirsk, some of the beautiful villages described in his books and have free time in the spa town of Harrogate.
ITINERARY
Day 1 After your taxi pick up, we travel north stopping in Stamford along the way, arriving at our hotel late afternoon. Before this evening’s dinner there will be a welcome drink giving you the opportunity to meet your fellow travellers.
Day 2 Today we journey deep into Herriot County and the Yorkshire Dales, with a stop in the pretty town of Grassington. We return via Skipton – Gateway to the Dales. Explore the wide variety of shops, pubs and cafés, or take a stroll through little alleyways to the canal basin.
Day 3 A free day in Harrogate, famous for its spa, fine Victorian and Edwardian architecture and its excellent shopping. Visit the Royal Pump Room Museum or take tea at Betty’s Tearooms in the Montpellier Quarter.
Day 4 We travel to Thirsk to visit the ‘World of James Herriot’. Based in his original surgery at 23 Kirkgate, the ‘Skeldale House’ of the Herriot books is a unique tribute to the vet and author. We return via Ripon, with its huge market square dominated by a large obelisk and today bustling with the weekly market. You could also visit the magnificent cathedral.
Day 5 We depart after breakfast and travel home with suitable refreshment stops along the way. We arrive back in the local area late afternoon and meet our taxis.
