ITINERARY
Day 1 After your taxi collection the coach will make its way along the coast to Southampton up through the Cotswolds and on to the overnight hotel in the Lake District. Suitable stops will be made throughout for your comfort and pleasure. This evening there will be a welcome drink before dinner for a chance to meet your fellow guests.
Day 2 We travel north and soon come to the border at Gretna Green, where we stop for refreshments. The journey continues through Dumfries and Galloway to the Ayrshire coast and we follow the coastal road to Irvine for our 4 night stay.
Day 3 A free morning to familiarise yourself with the local area and in the afternoon there is an excursion to Culzean Castle which is a stunning National Trust property. We have arranged for a guided tour which includes castle, gardens, deer park and swan pond.
Day 4 Making our way north we travel over the Erskine Bridge and along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond as far as Tarbet to see Loch Long. Then travel south along the shores of Loch Fyne via Lochgilphead to Claonaig on Kintyre for the ferry crossing to Lochranza on the beautiful Isle of Arran. Here we will visit Brodick Castle and Gardens before catching the late afternoon sailing from Brodick to Ardrossan.
Day 5 We leave the hotel immediately after breakfast and travel south of Glasgow to Falkirk. There you will marvel at the Scottish Waterways newest toy, a giant wheel which replaces 11 locks and lifts narrow barges 115 feet. We are booked on a trip which includes going on the wheel and a short length of the canal. After refreshments we will make our way to New Lanark Mill which is a World Heritage Site and will allow you to travel back in time. We return to the hotel in time for the evening meal.
Day 6 An early start is required today to get back to the south coast by evening time where we will take you to your home by taxi.
