NEW HOTEL

Staying in the beautiful town of Llangollen, this tour combines the best of nature and man’s ingenuity. We journey across the Horseshoe Pass and through the beautiful Cheshire countryside to visit the remarkable Anderton Boatlift. We also travel on both the Llangollen Canal and Railway, and spend time in the historic town of Chester.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Leaving the local area this morning we travel towards Llangollen and our hotel, stopping en route for lunch and refreshments.

Day 2 Today we have a two-hour cruise along the Llangollen Canal crossing the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct, built by Thomas Telford in 1805. Refreshments are available on board. The afternoon is free in Llangollen.

Day 3 This morning we travel across the famous Horseshoe Pass into Cheshire and to Anderton for a cruise including the famous boat lift, which was built in 1875 and provides a 50ft vertical link between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal. We then have free time in the walled city of Chester for lunch, sightseeing and shopping.

Day 4 We take a trip on the Llangollen Steam Railway for the eight-mile journey to Carrog. From here the coach will take us to Oswestry for free time to enjoy the town before we return to the hotel.

Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we take a scenic route home, stopping in Cheltenham for refreshments. We arrive in the local area late afternoon.
