The fairytale castles, vineclad hillsides and dramatic riverscapes make the area around Rüdesheim one of Germany’s most popular destinations. Excursions include a visit to the enchanting little town of Boppard, a cruise along the Rhine, the beautiful city of Heidelberg and a drive along the Moselle Valley to the medieval town of Bernkastel.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Morning collection from your home to join our coach for the drive to Dover and short sea crossing to Calais. We continue through France to Arlon and our overnight hotel.

Day 2 First through Luxembourg with fine views across the city, before delving into Germany and following the route of the Moselle, stopping in Trier for sightseeing. Continuing along the picturesque banks, we reach Bernkastel where we have free time for lunch. In the afternoon we cross the Rhine and reach Rüdesheim where we will have a welcome drink before dinner.

Day 3 A free day to explore the beautiful town of Rüdesheim.

Day 4 Today’s excursion takes us to Heidelberg, where we have included a guided tour of the magnificent castle which dominates the skyline of this beautiful old town. There will be free time for your own exploration before we return to our hotel.

Day 5 We start the day with a 2½ hour cruise from Rüdesheim to Boppard, passing steep vineyards, quaint little towns and fairy-tale castles. After free time in the town for lunch, we travel by coach along the western shore to the historic riverside town of Bacharach, before returning to our hotel.

Day 6 A half day trip into ‘Germania’, where we visit the famous Lorelei Rock and enjoy the spectacular view. After another short stop at the pretty, half-timbered village of Assmannshausen we return to Rüdesheim. You may like to take the cable car up to the Neiderwald Monument or perhaps visit the Asbach Brandy Distillery (not included).

Day 7 We depart after breakfast and travel back to Calais for a late afternoon ferry crossing to Dover, returning to the local area during the evening where our door-to-door service will be waiting to return you home.
