ITINERARY

Day 1 We travel to Folkestone for the short Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. We continue through Belgium stopping en route for refreshments arriving mid/late afternoon at our hotel in time for a welcome drink before dinner.

Day 2 A guided walking tour of Monschau has been arranged. The rest of the day is free for your own exploring of this delightful walled town. This evening we enjoy skittles at our hotel.

Day 3 Today we drive through picturesque scenery and visit the historic and romantic spa town of Bad Münstereifel with its half-timbered houses and lively pedestrian area. We continue into the Ahr Valley and visit Ahrweiler, surrounded entirely by a preserved medieval town wall. We return to our hotel through the beautiful Eifel ‘Lake District’.

Day 4 We travel south, along the west of the Eifel Region, through beautiful villages to Trier, Germany’s oldest city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we board the Roman Express, a mini-train which gives an excellent tour with commentary of the old town. Free time for lunch and to visit the cathedral, or one of the 94 churches and chapels or the impressive Porta Nigra, before we return to our hotel.

Day 5 We travel the short distance to the hilly south of Holland, to visit the fine city of Maastricht. With over 1450 historic monuments and buildings, you will enjoy this fascinating place with its old town and riverside walks. We travel on to scenic Valkenburg dominated by its ruined castle.

Day 6 We make our way to Bruges for lunch and sightseeing before our late afternoon Eurotunnel from Calais.
