With layer upon layer of history spread over thousands of years, Egypt is truly a fascinating place to visit. You might like to lie back and soak up the sun onboard our luxury cruise ship amongst unspoilt surroundings and sandy shores, or dust off your Indiana Jones Fedora and explore Egypt’s magnificent ancient temples and historic monuments. Whatever you do, you will be fascinated by the hidden wonders that the Land of the Pharaohs has to offer.
ITINERARY
Day 1 You will be collected from your home by our door to door service and join the coach to Heathrow for your flight to Luxor in Egypt. On arrival you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your ship for your seven-night cruise.
Day 2 This morning there is an excursion to the West Bank of the Nile including the amazing Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsuts Temple, The Valley of the Queens and the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch on board, the ship sails for Esna. Afternoon tea can be taken on the sundeck as you watch the banks of the Nile drift by, and this evening a cocktail party is held to introduce you to the crew.
Day 3 Having docked in Edfu, there is a morning excursion to the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the god Horos. Afterwards there is time to roam a local market before lunch on board and departure toward Aswan. This evening a ‘Galabeya’ party with traditional Egyptian costume.
Day 4 A morning visit to Aswan: the High Dam, the Old Granite Quarries, the Unfinished Obelisk and then by boat to the Temple of Philae. In the afternoon sail by Felucca around Kitchener’s Island and its botanical gardens.
Day 5 A day at leisure to enjoy the pleasure of relaxing on board. Optional excursions will be available to the Temple of Abu Simbel or to a Nubian Village by camel or boat. In the late afternoon the boat sails to Kom Ombo with a visit to the Ptolemic Temple.
Day 6 After a day of relaxation as the ship cruises back toward Luxor, you are joined by a belly dancer to entertain after dinner.
Day 7 Today you visit the Temple of Karnak, the Papyrus Museum and the traditional perfume shops of Luxor. In the afternoon you visit the Temple of Luxor with time to explore the markets for souvenirs and gifts.
Day 8 After disembarkation you are taken to the airport in Luxor for your flight back to Heathrow. Here a Woods coach will be waiting to take you back to the local area to meet our taxis.
