ITINERARY
Day 1 After being picked up from your door and taken to our coach, we travel west via Telford and Llangollen, making suitable refreshments stops along the way and reaching our hotel in Snowdonia late afternoon.
Day 2 This morning we take a scenic drive through Snowdonia to Betws-y-Coed where we have free time for lunch. In the afternoon we board the Bala Lake Railway. The 2ft narrow gauge steam trains give excellent views of the lake amid its surrounding pastoral and woodland scenery, and of the nearby mountains. We rejoin our coach and return to our hotel.
Day 3 Today we travel to the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion. The setting for the TV show ‘The Prisoner’, Portmeirion stands on a rugged clifftop overlooking Cardigan Bay. In the afternoon we visit Blaenau Ffestiniog and board the narrow gauge railway for a scenic ride over the mountains back to Porthmadog.
Day 4 This morning we travel to Llanberis, where there may be a chance to board the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a dramatic and beautiful journey, but very weather dependent (not included). For those who do not wish to take the train, we go to Caernarfon. After some free time, we take a journey on Wales’ newest steam railway – The Welsh Highland Line. We enjoy views across the Menai Straits to Anglesey and then turn inland to travel through the magnificent Aberglaslyn Pass. Leaving the train at Beddgelert, we return to our hotel.
Day 5 A leisurely day with a scenic drive up to the beautiful little town of Conwy and on to Llandudno, with its long sweeping bay between the Great and Little Ormes. Enjoy free time here before returning to Beddgelert mid afternoon for time to relax in this pretty town.
Day 6 Leaving Beddgelert after breakfast, we travel southwards toward home making suitable refreshment stops along the way. We reach the local area early evening where we meet our taxis.
