Ivy Bush Royal Hotel
Once a favoured retreat of Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, our hotel is within walking distance of Carmarthen. Sympathetically modernised, the hotel retains its old world charm while offering modern day facilities. All rooms are en suite and have television, telephone, hairdryer, ironing facilities and hospitality tray. The hotel has a bar, spacious lounge and terrace, a gym and sauna and has a lift.
ITINERARY
Day 1 After a morning pick up from your home, we travel across to Gloucester in time for lunch. We then cross into Wales and travel via Ross-on-Wye, through Monmouthshire and on to our hotel in Carmarthen arriving late afternoon.
Day 2 Our excursion takes us through the beautiful unspoilt scenery of the Gower Peninsula. We visit Mumbles on the outskirts of Swansea and stop at Mumbles Head where there will be free time before visiting the Gower Heritage Centre for our lunch stop. We then have a guided coach tour along to Rhossili with views of the nature reserve of Worm’s Head and the dramatic 250ft cliffs.
Day 3 This morning we travel to the National Botanic Garden of Wales where we have arranged a guided tour. After lunch we return to our hotel and have free time to explore Carmarthen.
Day 4 Another morning of botanic delights, this time at the Aberglasney Gardens, spectacularly set in the beautiful Tywi valley of Carmarthenshire. ‘Lost’ for 50 years, the 10 acres of gardens have been lovingly restored. Leaving the gardens, we travel to Brecon for lunch and spend the afternoon returning through the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel to Cardiff where we will have time for lunch in this historic city. Crossing the Severn Bridge we make our way to the local area, our taxis and home.
