Floriade is a World Horticultural Exhibition which takes place every 10 years in the Netherlands. We have a full day to explore this impressive site, where as well as the multitude of garden exhibits there is a full cultural programme of music, dance, literature, theatre and visual art from all over the world. We are based in picturesque Valkenburg and also visit Maastricht, Aachen and Monschau.

ITINERARY

Day 1 After our usual taxi pick up, we travel by coach to Dover for the short Channel crossing. On arrival we continue our journey through Belgium to Holland and our hotel, where we will have a welcome drink before dinner

Day 2 Today we visit two delightful towns beginning with Monschau, with its charming centre of half-timbered houses and narrow alleys. Then we visit Aachen, where you can see the gothic town hall and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aachen Cathedral.

Day 3 Floriade - We travel to Venlo for the ‘Greatest Flower Show on Earth’! 2012 marks the sixth World Horticultural Exhibition and over 100 Dutch and international exhibitors will have displays on the 100-acre site. These include the magical Welcome Garden, the impressive ‘Nature’s Theatre’ and many ‘Experince Zones’ with gardens from all over the world.

Day 4 A morning visit to the fine city of Maastrict, with over 1450 historic monuments and buildings and pleasant riverside walks. The afternoon in free in Valkenburg.

Day 5 We depart our hotel after breakfast and travel to Calais to join a late afternoon ferry crossing to Dover returning to the local area late evening where our door to door service will be waiting to take you home.
