We are close to Chatsworth House and the pretty villages which are scattered throughout the National Park, and we also take a journey into the past at Crich Tramway Village.
ITINERARY
Day 1 After the usual taxi pick ups we travel north with suitable refreshment stops along the way. We reach our hotel near Chesterfield with time to relax before dinner.
Day 2 We take a scenic drive through the National Park to Bakewell, the attractive town famous for it’s ‘puddings’. After a short stop, we continue to Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Visit the house with many wonderful works of art, the chapel, the farm and the gardens with miles of walks with rare trees, the kitchen, cottage and rose gardens, temples, sculptures, fountains, streams and ponds.
Day 3 Following a leisurely breakfast we visit Crich Tramway Village. Overlooking the famous Derwent Valley, Crich Tramway Village is a lovingly restored period village that is also home to the National Tramway Museum and its world renowned archives. We begin with a guided tour before having a chance to explore further and take unlimited tram rides! We return to the hotel mid afternoon so we can enjoy the facilities on offer.
Day 4 After breakfast we drive into the Peak District to see some of the beautiful Derbyshire villages and breathtaking scenery of the National Park. We visit Matlock Bath and the Roman spa town of Buxton, with free time to explore the Pavilion Gardens, stroll among the shops or taste the famous waters.
Day 5 We make our way south, with a stop to visit the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. We then continue toward the local area making a suitable refreshment stop along the way.
