NEW TOUR
This new tour explores Liverpool and the remarkable Wirral Peninsula and gives an insight into the beauty and history of the city of Chester. We have included boat trips on the Mersey and the Shropshire Union Canal, and visits to Port Sunlight and Ness Botanic Gardens.
ITINERARY
Day 1 After collection from your home by taxi, our coach travels north west through the Cotswolds to our hotel in Chester, making suitable refreshment stops along the way.
Day 2 A free day to explore Chester. We have included a ticket for the hop-on-hop-off City Sightseeing Bus Tour which will enable you to explore the city’s 2000 years of history.
Day 3 This morning we travel into Liverpool for a two-hour guided tour of this fascinating city followed by free time for lunch. In the afternoon we go to Albert Dock where we have a 50-minute journey on the iconic Mersey Ferry with commentary.
Day 4 We drive into the Wirral and the excellent Ness Botanic Gardens on the banks of the Dee Estuary. We then travel to rural Wirral and the village of Thornton Hough, which in 1889 became a project for William Hesketh Lever who built a school, orphanage and church. Then Port Sunlight - this idyllic garden village was built for the Sunlight Soap factory workers and is home to the Lady Lever Art Gallery.
Day 5 A morning visit to the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, set within the 200 year-old dock complex. We include a guided tour of the museum and a short cruise on the Shropshire Union Canal. This afternoon is free in Chester.
Day 6 Departing after breakfast, we travel homewards making suitable refreshment stops along the way and reaching the local area late afternoon.
