Austria is a land of mountains and valleys, rivers and lakes with hospitality and friendliness. Experience one of the most scenic parts of Europe as you wind your way through the valley on a traditional steam train, and sail on the crystal clear waters of the lake. ITINERARY

Day 1 This morning we travel to FOLKESTONE for our mid morning ferry to CALAIS. We then travel through France and Belgium to our overnight hotel in KAISERSLAUTERN.

Day 2 Today we drive through Germany and cross the Austro / German border to reach the Hotel Plankenhof in time for a welcome drink followed by dinner.

Day 3 A lazy day to explore the tiny village of PILL. The buses pass the door to the town of SCHWARTZ just down the road. There is also a bus that takes you up to a high mountain village above the hotel. You will also enjoy a schnapps tour with a presentation and tasting in the medieval cellars of the hotel.

Day 4 We travel west along the INN VALLEY to TELFS where we climb the Fern Pass to visit NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE, King Ludwig II’s most amazing castle. The return journey will be via OBERAMMAGAU and GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN.

Day 5 The excursion today is to HITLER’S EAGLES NEST in BERCHTESGADEN followed by free time in SALTZBURG.

Day 6 We travel via ST JOHANN and SAALFELDEN up to the GROSSGLOCKNER PASS. At over 2,500 metres the view is stunning. We return via MITTERSILL stopping in KITZBUHEL before returning to our hotel.

Day 7 We take a short journey to JENBACH to take the steam train through the Ziller Valley to MAYERHOFEN. On the return journey weather permitting we will make a stop to board one of the many cabin lifts to the top of the mountain (not included).

Day 8 Our homeward journey is via the INN VALLEY and the BLACK FOREST to our overnight stop near METZ.

Day 9 Making our way today through FRANCE we arrive in CALAIS for the late afternoon ferry to FOLKESTONE and our return to the local area.
