ITINERARY

Day 1 An early start with the Woods door to door service and the drive to Dover for the ferry to Calais. We travel through France to our overnight hotel in the Orléans area.

Day 2 After breakfast we continue our drive south through France and arrive at our hotel near Carcassonne.

Day 3 This morning is at leisure in Carcassonne, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can explore the medieval city on foot, take a ride on the tourist train or a horse drawn carriage ride around the outer walls. In the afternoon we drive to our hotel in Andorra La Vella.

Day 4 After breakfast we have a guided walking tour in the historic part of Andorra La Vella, including the old Parliament and main square. Free time for lunch and in the afternoon we join the coach for a scenic tour into the mountains. We see the Church in Meritxell which houses the Guardian Angel of Andorra, and those who wish can take a guided lakeside walk.

Day 5 Today we cross the border into Spain to the town of La Seu d’Urgell for the traditional market. Explore the old town, with its narrow streets or visit the Romanesque Cathedral of Santa Maria. We then visit a 200-year-old, family run wool factory and have a guided tour. We drive to a countryside restaurant for an included lunch. You then have the option of a short walk down to the pretty village of Os de Civis, or continue to the village by coach. This delightful little village has narrow winding streets and farmers still live side by side with their animals.

Day 6 On today’s scenic drive through Andorra, we have green landscapes, small villages, Romanesque churches, crystal clear rivers and three valleys. Lunch with wine and water is also included.

Day 7 This morning we drive towards France through the valley of Cerdanya along the River Segre crossing the border at Bourg Madame. We will join Le Petit Train Jaune, the highest railway in France. After a thrilling train journey, we drive to the old Railway Station at Porta, which is now a restaurant and has magnificent views of the Pyrennes. Lunch with water and wine is included. The drive back to Andorra is via Pas de la Casa at a height of 2000m. We arrive back at the hotel late afternoon.

Day 8 After breakfast we start our homeward journey and stop overnight in the Limousin region.

Day 9 Our drive continues through France to Calais and an early evening ferry to Dover and return to the local area.
