Day 1 After the taxis have collected you from your front door and brought you to our coach we make our way northwards to the Durham area for our overnight stay.
Day 2 We continue our journey north, hugging the coast and travelling via Berwick-on-Tweed, Dunbar and the Firth of Forth crossing by the Forth Road Bridge. The journey continues through the Kingdom of Fife to Pitlochry and our three night stay at The Atholl Palace Hotel.
Day 3 Today we travel through Glenshee, Braemar and Crathie and stop by the church made so famous by the Queen’s visit each Christmas. We continue across the Grampian Mountains through Cock Bridge to Tomintoul and on to Aviemore. Here we will join the Cairngorm Funicular Railway which climbs 3,600 ft to the Ptarmigan Centre. Whilst here we can get refreshments from the café, visit the museum and take in the stunning views. We return to the hotel in time for the evening meal.
Day 4 A free day to explore Pitlochry. There is plenty to do and see and Blair Castle is just a short distance up the valley. Your driver/ courier will be happy to arrange a visit there for those who wish.
Day 5 Leaving Pitlochry the drive takes us via Loch Tummel and Loch Tay, along Glen Dochart to Crianlarich and on to the shores of Loch Awe. Here, lying deep within the mountain of Ben Cruachan is a remarkable feat of engineering – Cruachan Power Station. We have arranged to join a guided bus tour one kilometre into the heart of the mountain, past sub-tropical plants, to see the massive cavern housing the turbines. We have time to see the Visitor Centre Exhibition, and have refreshments in the café which overlooks Loch Awe. A late lunch will be taken in Inveraray before continuing our journey to our hotel close to Tarbert.
Day 6 Just a short drive today for the Ferry at Claonaig to Lochranza. We spend the day on the beautiful Isle of Arran and visit Brodick Castle, Gardens and Country Park. The castle spans over 600 years of history and in the grounds are luxurious gardens, woodland walks and terraced lawns, with spectacular views of the mountains and over Brodick Bay to the Ayrshire coast. There will be time for refreshments in the tearooms. We return by the same ferry to the hotel.
