Over the years it has been lovingly restored and tastefully extended, and now offers 72 bedrooms, cosy lounges, open log fires and a bar lounge. All rooms have TV, radio, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Whilst staying in this hotel the service will include daily packed lunches, wine with meals, evening entertainment and a free bar from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. The hotel does not have a lift, but some ground floor rooms are available.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Leaving the local area we travel via Newbury and The Cotswolds to join the M5 near Worcester and head on to our overnight hotel in Lancashire.

Day 2 Travelling north we leave the motorway and travel through the Lake District stopping in Ullswater for refreshments, on through the border at Gretna Green stopping at Moffat for lunch. We continue to our hotel at Drymen, where we have a welcome drink before dinner. This evening we enjoy a Ceilidh – a traditional Scottish party.

Day 3 Today we drive north along the banks of Loch Lomond, the largest lake in mainland Britain and one of the best known. We travel along Glen Falloch, Glen Lochy and along the northern shore of Loch Awe. We have a stop in Oban, a peaceful waterfront town on a delightful bay with sweeping views of Kerrara and Mull. We then make our way to Inveraray on the shores of Loch Fyne, where we can see the neat whitewashed buildings, famous old jail and impressive castle. We return to Drymen late afternoon and this evening we have live music to take us back to the 1950s!

Day 4 We travel today across country through the Forest of Glenartney to Comrie. Continuing along the shores to Loch Earn we arrive at Callander where a stop will be made. We enter the Trossachs and make our way to the pier on Loch Katrine where we board the ‘Lady of the Loch’ for a cruise. We then take you to Aberfoyle and Inversaid before returning to the hotel, to enjoy dinner and our evening entertainment.

Day 5 Travelling via Stirling and Kincardine and over the famous Firth of Forth Road Bridge, we reach Edinburgh where there will be a short driven tour showing the basic layout of the city followed by free time to explore. You may like to visit the castle, or just stroll along the Royal Mile. We return to our hotel for the evening meal and a game of bingo.

Day 6 Today is spent at leisure to do as we wish.

Day 7 We travel southward via Kilmarnock, Dumfries, and Hexham to our overnight stop in Durham arriving in time for dinner.

Day 8 After breakfast, we head southwards to our local area making regular refreshment stops en route.
