Lacock, owned by The National Trust who forbids television aerials, yellow lines and overhead cables. Popular with film crews, “Harry Potter” and “Pride and Prejudice” are among its recent credits. By coach we make our way to Bradford-on-Avon. This is a bustling market town, its flower festooned narrow streets packed with specialist shops and art galleries. Plenty of choice for lunch here in Bradford plus time for a town tour with our guide including, whenever possible, a visit to the Saxon church of St Laurence. The American Museum in Britain traces the American way of life from colonial times to the mid 19th century. There is also a display of American quilts. The story of the Titanic still seizes the imagination. Among the dead were members
of the most prominent families of America: Colonel John Jacob Astor IV; industrialist Benjamin Guggenheim; Isidor Straus, the found of Macy’s department store, and his wife Ida, who refused to live without him. There is a café on site (on warm days there are fantastic views from the terrace) where you can buy afternoon refreshments before returning to the coach to head home at 4-4.45 pm.
