Salisbury City historically and architecturally offers a wealth of interest for those wishing to absorb its culture. Wonder at the medieval builders who constructed the Cathedral all those centuries ago, now towering above a chequered maze of city streets. The open market held in the same square every Tuesday and Saturday attracts stallholders and visitors from a wide area, selling mainly local produce, clothes and flowers. Most of the major chain stores are represented, but it is the smaller specialist shops hiding in the side streets that make Salisbury unique for shopping. A glance above the modern facades will reveal much of the architectural heritage.
