One of the finest military bands in the world, the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. They will take centre stage for a unique celebration of the Royal families’ involvement with the RAF since Her Majesty took to the throne in 1952. The event is unique in as much as the participants are selected and brought together to tell a story rather than the tradition prom concert which have changed little over the years. This event draws on the wealth of imagery of the Defence Film Library and other departments within the RAF which is specially edited for each piece of music. The spectacle in the sky of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, RAF Chinook and other aircraft add a further dimension and a narrative helps reinforce the story. Together with the changes in tempo and mood in both the images and music we engage both the emotions and senses of the audience.

Concert begins at 6.30pm- Gates open at 3.30pm
Pre-concert entertainment from 4.30pm-Concert ends 9.30pm

Please bring your own picnic, but for safety reasons no fires or barbecues are allowed.
Hot and cold food and a bar will be available.
Seating and cover is not provided so do bring chairs, tables, picnic blankets and umbrellas. Aircraft are subject to weather conditions and serviceability
